Woman charged with vehicular homicide

Cathy Nolan, 48, of Covington turned herself in Tuesday to the Newton County jail after she was charged with second-degree vehicular homicide.

Nolan is also charged with failure to yield the right of way and failure to yield resulting in serious injury. All three charges are felonies.

On July 23, 2011, Nolan was leaving a shopping center near the Kirkland Road intersection in a 1998 Buick LeSabre around 7:30 p.m., when she hit the rear side of a motorcycle carrying a husband and wife.

Dianne K. Hickly, 64, was killed after being thrown from the motorcycle. Her husband Robert E. Hickly, 68, was seriously injured but recovered.
