Elementary students visit judicial center

Students from Ms. Ferretti's third-grade class at Peachtree Academy toured the Newton County Judicial Center on Friday with assistant district attorney Candice Branche as the guide.

The students also had a chance to meet Judge Ozburn who encouraged the students to stay away from drugs and read whenever they could.

After learning about the three branches of government in class, the field trip gave the students an opportunity to learn firsthand more about the judicial branch and how it operates.

In addition to touring the courtroom, the students also toured the jury selection room and the holding cells where inmates await trial.
