Area students go to Disney events

Some area students got an early jump start on summer, when their school groups were invited to Walt Disney World to perform and attend educational programs.

The Social Circle High School "Marching Redskins" were showcased at the Disney Performing Arts Program April 14 at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.

Dance groups, choirs, ensembles and marching bands from around the world apply to perform each year at the Disney Performing Arts at both the Disneyland and the Walt Disney World resorts.

Millions of performers have graced the stages of the Disney parks in the more than 25 year history of the program.

Some students traveled to the Disney Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World April 15 to take part in the Disney's Animation Magic program while others took part in the Disney's Production Arts and Sciences program April 17.

Another group of students traveled to Epcot at Walt Disney World April 18 to take part in the Magic Behind the Show: Improv and Team work program.

Each year, individuals and groups from around the world travel to Disney theme parks to take part in one of the several Disney Y.E.S. programs offered throughout the resort.

Areas of study include career discovery, life management, physical science, natural science, history, and art and humanities. The two-three hour interactive educational experiences are lead by professional Disney facilitators who help the students and assist them in understanding various school subjects through the experiences and attractions offered at the resort.
