Eastside honored on region team

The Eastside girls' and boys' soccer teams both had standout seasons, reaching the second round of the Class AAA playoffs.

As the Eagles and Lady Eagles seasons came to early second-round ends this week, the recognition continues for the two successful programs.

The boys' squad, which finished 11-7-2 overall and 5-3 in
Region 4-AAA play defeated Richmond Academy on the road 4-1 in the state tournament's opening round.
The Eagles then fell to second-ranked Woodward Academy 7-1on Tuesday.

A big part of that success is four players that were recognized among the best in Region 4-AAA.

Trent Taylor and Calvin Miller were selected as first team All-region players and Jacob Alwes and Andres Sarmiento were named to the second team.

The Lady Eagles reached the second round of the state playoffs for the first time in Eastside history after beating Westside at home 3-0 in the playoffs opening round.

Eastside then fell to the state's No. 4 team, Columbus 10-0 on Wednesday, finishing with a 12-7-1 record overall, including 7-1 in region.

Helping to that historic season was six All-region honorees, starting with first team members Amber Lafond and Kari Dylong.

Making the second team were Carly Farrow, Sarah Gaddis, Tara Harrison and Emily House.
