A Alabama man has been arrested and charged with sexual exploitation of a child and electronically furnishing obscene material to a minor.

Charles Richard McDowell, 55, was arrested Jan. 20. According to NCSO officials, McDowell initiated an online conversation with who he thought was a middle school-aged female, but was in fact a NCSO investigator more than a year ago. After a lengthy investigation, during which he reportedly sent nude photographs of himself and made inappropriate remarks to the undercover officer, McDowell was arrested.

He remains in the Newton County Detention Center as of press time.
