High Museum get 3 new art pieces

ATLANTA (AP) - Atlanta's High Museum of Art acquired three new pieces during its annual Collectors Evening.

At the event Friday, participants heard presentations from each of the museum's curators on potential acquisitions and then voted on their favorites. The three pieces chosen were a chair, a painting and a photograph.

Marcel Wanders' "Crochet Chair" will be added to the High's decorative arts and design collection.

"DOWN TIME," a painting by KAWS, a pseudonym for Brian Donnelly, will join the museum's collection of modern and contemporary art. KAWS was first recognized in the early 1990s in New York City in connection with graffiti art, and his works have been exhibited around the world.

The third work chosen was Hiroshi Sugimoto's "Lightning Fields 182" photograph, which features the visual trace of an electrical charge.
