Wells Fargo donates to two Newton nonprofits

Wells Fargo recently gave two $1,000 grants to Newton County nonprofits Alcovy CASA and the Newton County Foundation for Educational Excellence.

The local non-profit groups were among 234 non-profits in all that received $1,000 grants from Wells Fargo during the company’s third annual Days of Giving program in Atlanta.

In the Days of Giving celebration, team members in the company’s almost 200 bank stores in Atlanta, along with those in other business lines, selected and recognized groups that were delivering important services in their local areas.

A total of 47 groups, chosen by bank employees, were honored last week at a breakfast at the Clayton State University in the Student Activities Center.

“We are happy to reach so many groups and people like this,” said Chad Gregory, Wells Fargo’s community bank president for South Atlanta.

“Wells Fargo has a long proud history of community involvement and local decision making,” said Chanda Moran, business banking area manager.  “Days of Giving is the ideal representation of that and we look forward to celebrating our communities in this way for years to come.”

Wells Fargo’s Atlanta team members have also pledged or given $937,000 through its annual United Way and Community Support campaign – 10 percent more than last year.  Wells Fargo is also making a $600,000 corporate contribution to the United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta.
