Police patrols increase on Tech campus

ATLANTA (AP) - Authorities say the Georgia State Patrol and Atlanta police are helping Georgia Tech police to increase security on campus after three female students reported assaults.

In the most recent report, a woman told campus police she was walking on campus early Tuesday when a man approached her from behind and grabbed her around the waist.

Police say the woman struck the man and ran. She wasn't hurt. Police say two other female students reported being assaulted on campus recently.

The attacks come nearly a year after a series of crimes, including a December dorm-room invasion in which a student's teeth were knocked out by four suspects who looted his room.

In the summer of 2009, Atlanta police also stepped up patrols around the campus after several students were robbed at gunpoint.
