DA seeks death penalty for 2 in fatal beating

DOUGLASVILLE - Douglas County District Attorney David McDade says he plans to seek the death penalty against two of the four men suspected in the beating death of 18-year-old Bobby Tillman at a party last November.

McDade offered earlier not to seek the death penalty for any of the four who would plead guilty.

One of the four, 18-year-old Emanuel Boykins, said last spring he would take the deal but later changed his mind.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports (http://bit.ly/ndpeCk ) McDade filed notice with the court this week that he will ask for the death penalty if either Boykins or 19-year-old Tracen Lamar Franklin is convicted. Two others, 19-year-old Horace Damon Coleman and 18-year-old Quantez Devonta Mallory also are charged with murder.

Tillman died from a broken rib that punctured his heart.
