JONESBORO - Authorities say a sheriff's deputy has been shot and killed in Clayton County, south of Atlanta.

Sheriff Kem Kimbrough said the shooting happened on or near Walker Road Wednesday afternoon.

Police are searching the area for a suspect.

Authorities say the deputy was taken to Southern Regional Hospital, where he died.
