Lemar Shepherd

Lemar was born on November 29, 1937 in Newton County to the parents of Mr. Henry L. & Millie Maude (Freeman) Shepherd.

Lemar received his education through the Washington Street School in Covington, Georgia. As Lemar began to grow into adulthood he met the “Love of his life” Miss Willie Bell “Penny” Harper and to this union four children were born, three boys and one girl. Lemar was employed by several different companies just to name a few, Miami Stone, Panel Products, Dekalb County School System and TaraCorp Evans.

In December of 1999, Lemar fully retired from the workforce due to sickness and minor illness. He was a member of the Springfield Baptist Church for most of his life and attended as much as possible until his health declined and was unable to attend and then decided to join the Crawfordville Baptist church in December of 2016 under the leadership of Pastor Andrew C. Doyle where he attended when he could until God Called him home

Lemar was preceded in death by parents, Mr. & Mrs. Henry L. (Millie Maude) Shepherd and brother, Mr. Willie L. Shepherd.

His memory will be cherished and treasured by wife, Mrs. Willie Bell “Penny” Shepherd; four children, Terry L., Tamara D., Phillip J. and Orlando (Melissa) Holiday—Shepherd; ten grandchildren, Chantae Mapp, Alexcia “Nee-Nee”, Alaylah “Bug” Shepherd, Breyuna “Bre-Bre” Shepherd, Siya “Tootie” Riley, Britini, Anthony “Man-Man” Henderson, BraSheia “Sheia” Shepherd, Antoreó (A’aliyah) Henderson, DeAngelo “Dee” McCoy; eight great- grandchildren, Reign, Isaac, Skylar, Moses, Le’Juan, MiClair, Isiah and Karter; five brothers, L.B. Shepherd, Earnest Shepherd, Deacon & Mrs. Henry (Elizabeth) Shepherd,  Mr. & Mrs. Edward C. (Carrie) Shepherd and Mr. Milton Goolsby; one sister, Mrs. Mattie Shepherd- Burnett; one brother-in-law, Mr. Willie L. Harper, Sr.; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Agnes L. Smith “Nap”; three uncles, Deacon Willie C. (Eula B.) Banks, Deacon Willie Brown (Claudia Mae) Banks, Deacon Albert (Mary) Banks; one aunt, Ms. Mary E. “Aunt Liz” Robinson; special family friends, Clara “Susie” Henderson and Marilyn E’bron (Arielle, Gabrielle “Gabby & Emerie” Johnson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousin, other relatives and friends.
