Mother, newborn safe; two charged

MARIETTA - Two people are under arrest in the disappearance of a 27-year-old woman and her newborn daughter who turned up safe in different Georgia counties.

Cobb County police Sgt. Dana Pierce says police were called on Saturday after the staff of a hotel in Austell found blood-soaked linens in a room.

Pierce says Holly Daenette Parker-Heard apparently gave birth in the room.

Pierce says Parker-Heard was found safe on Sunday at a house in Cobb County.

Authorities in Carroll County found 39-year-old Rebecca Mclarty of Mableton, who they say was the midwife for the birth, along with the infant, on Monday. Pierce says Mclarty and 42-year-old Scott Alan McDaniel, who was arrested Monday evening, are charged with kidnapping and cruelty to children.

Pierce says the mother and infant are doing well.
