Coming soon: The new Walmart supercenter will be located at Brown Bridge Road and Salem Road, but no construction date has been set.

Site plans have been approved for a Walmart Supercenter at the intersection of Salem and Brown Bridge roads.

Plans call for a 156,058-square-foot building with 688 parking spaces on 26.73 acres. The new concept store will be slightly smaller than previous supercenters, said landscape architect and County Arborist Debbie Bell.

The store will have a full grocery including bakery, deli and produce sections, as well as a garden center, vision center, pharmacy and tire and battery section. There will also be an eatery in the front of the store as well as two other businesses.

Walmart owns 33.58 acres at the intersection, and the site plans calls for four other parcels to be created, which would then be sold or rented out to other businesses. Walgreens is already located at the intersection. To allay congestion, the Walmart and the other businesses would be reached by an access road between Salem and Brown Bridge roads.

Bell said the next step is a pre-construction meeting, which is dependent on Walmart presenting appropriate EPD paperwork. No construction date has been set.
