Social Circle School Superintendent Dr. Bettye Ray has been named vice-chair of the Georgia Department of Education’s Transition Advisory Committee.

"I am honored to have been selected as a vice chair of (State) Superintendent (-elect Dr. John) Barge’s Transition Advisory Committee and look forward to this opportunity to serve, along with many other well-respected educators, business leaders, and legislators from around the state," said Ray. "In these challenging times, it is more important than ever for all of us to work together to make the best decisions possible for the students in Georgia."

Along with Ray, several other educators, business leaders and legislators were named to the committee by Barge and others will likely be added in coming weeks, according to a press release from the Georgia Department of Education.

"I am honored that so many outstanding individuals are willing to give their time and expertise," said Barge. "I look forward to working with each of them, not only during this transition, but also throughout my tenure as state school superintendent."
