Cornish Creek water treatment facility expansion dedication Tues.

There will be a dedication of the expansion project to Newton County’s Cornish Creek Water Treatment Facility at Lake Varner at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7.

This expansion has ensured that the future of potable drinking water will be in good supply to the citizens of Newton and Walton Counties. The plant was expanded from a treatment capacity of 15 million gallons a day to 25 million gallons a day to meet the ever-growing needs of the water system. This expansion is the third of a four phase build-out to a maximum production yield of 35 million gallons a day. State of the art control, monitoring, and treatment technologies utilized in the facility upgrade will deliver an uninterrupted flow of safe, high quality drinking water to the consumer. The expansion allows Newton County to continue the trend of fiscal responsibility by maintaining one of the lowest wholesale water rates in the state of Georgia.

The design and construction oversight was done by Infratec Consultants, Inc. of Atlanta. Technology design and upgrade was performed by Industrial Control Systems, Inc of Sandston Virginia. Construction was performed by Choate Construction Company of Atlanta.
