This is an excerpt from the Georgia Perimeter College publication, Copia:

“Each year, a Georgia Perimeter College faculty committee solicits manuscripts in the genres of poetry, essay, and fiction from metro area high school students.  Working with high school English teachers who encourage student participation, the committee judges hundreds of submissions and awards prizes in each genre to students in high schools affiliated with the college’s campuses.
The competition is a celebration of the art of writing and an enrichment of students’ educational experience.  An awards ceremony publicly recognizes the award winners at a GPC location and is an event where students, families, high school teachers and principals, as well as, GPC faculty and administration acknowledge the achievement of the award winners whose work appears in the chapbook, Copia; they are published authors.  Winners also receive a gift in recognition of their selection.”
