List of trials — April

The trial for accused murderer Jamaal Marquez Pridgett is set to begin the week of April 19 in the courtroom of Newton County Superior Court Judge Eugene M. Benton.

Pridgett, 19, is charged with robbing and shooting four men during an Oct. 7, 2008 dice game on West Street. Jerome Glover, 20, died later from multiple gunshot wounds.

According to detectives with the Covington Police Department, Pridgett was playing dice with the men when he reportedly stood up, produced a pistol and ordered the men to the ground. The victims were robbed and then shot, according to detectives. Pridgett then reportedly fled the scene but was later located hiding at a home in Porterdale.

Originally charged with several counts of aggravated assault, his charges were changed to malice and felony murder after Glover succumbed to his injuries.

Pridgett has maintained his innocence. He is charged with malice murder, felony murder, armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. On a separate case that will also be heard, Pridgett is charged with another count of aggravated assault.

The trials of Laura Denise Waldrop and Brandon Terry Wiggins are also scheduled to be called during the week of April 12.

Waldrop is charged with aggravated child molestation, aggravated sexual battery and two counts of child molestation.

Wiggins is charged with rape, aggravated child molestation, statutory rape and child molestation.

Both are scheduled to appear before Superior Court Judge Samuel D. Ozburn.
