Traffic stop ends in marijuana arrest

What started out as a traffic stop on a Friday afternoon turned into a drug bust after deputies located more than two pounds of marijuana inside a white Mitsubishi Galant.

According to reports, when the deputy pulled the driver of the vehicle over, a little after 4 p.m., he noticed that the driver, identified as 20-year-old Meeksie Acoy of Atlanta was acting nervously. After exiting the vehicle, Acoy reportedly continued to behave in a nervous manner, reeked of marijuana and attempted to conceal something in the waist of his pants. When deputies searched him they allegedly found a firearm in the waistband of his pants.

The passenger, identified as 18-year-old Tevon Farrington Forrest, was searched and deputies allegedly found marijuana on his person. In the passenger seat area deputies also located more marijuana as well as a gun, of which Forrest reportedly admitted he was in possession.

A more intense search of the vehicle revealed even more marijuana inside a bag in the trunk. Both men were charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute (at least two pounds), possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of marijuana less then one ounce. They were transported to the Newton County Detention Center.
