Warmer weather leads to disorderly conduct, underage drinking arrests

Deputies were called to a gas station after several men were confronted by 63-year-old man with a gun.

According to reports, the male victim had attempted to turn his vehicle around and became stuck on the side of the road. He reportedly contacted a friend to help him free his vehicle.

While they were attempting to do this, a man, later identified as Gregory M. Chitwood, arrived on an ATV and allegedly began cursing at them and culminated the incident by shooting a gun in the air "several times."

The victims fled the area and went to a gas station where they called 911 for help. When deputies from the Newton County Sheriff's Office arrived and canvassed the area, they located Chitwood and arrested the man for disorderly conduct.

Girls just want to have fun
While checking on reports of a domestic disturbance at a local apartment complex, deputies from the Newton County Sheriff's Office located a group of friends, underage and intoxicated.

According to reports, deputies were called to Leafstone Apartments on a report of a fight in the parking lot of the complex. When they arrived, they saw a group in the general area and all allegedly smelled strongly of alcohol.

After speaking with the victim of the domestic problem and ensuring that he did not require medical assistance, the deputy returned to the group and spoke with them. After checking their ages and finding out they were under the age of 21, Casey Ward, Tawnni Jane Thomas, Lisa Marie Myers, Russell Drake Hickman and Lauren F.
