Joseph Myles Holahan, Jr., 92, husband of the late Katherine Englert Holahan, passed away Feb. 24 at NHC Healthcare of Anderson. The son of the late Joseph Myles Holahan and Florence Kelleher Holahan, he was born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., in 1917. He served in the United States Army National Guard, was a 1939 graduate of Manhattan College, and retired from True Temper as an industrial engineer. Mr. Holahan was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he was a founder of the Hilltoppers and was formerly active within the Knights of Columbus. For many years he was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

Survivors include his children Christine Turner of Charleston, S.C., Cathleen LaFave and husband, Jim, of Hickory, N.C., Donald Francis Holahan and wife, Joanne, of Geneva, Ohio, Leo Andrew Holahan and wife, Julie, of Covington, and Thomas A. Holahan and wife, Kimberly, of Anderson, S.C.; a sister Ursula Holahan of Charleston, S.C.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by son Joseph M. Holahan III and sister Audrey Stenson.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 5, at St. Joseph Catholic Church celebrated by Father Aubrey McNeil, OFM. Interment will follow in New Silver Brook Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Thursday, March 4, from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. A prayer service will follow at 7:30 p.m. conducted by Father Hayden J. Vaverek. The family suggests that memorials be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church and School, 1200 Cornelia Road, Anderson, South Carolina 29621, or to Meals on Wheels, Post Office Box 285, Anderson, South Carolina 29622.
