Our thoughts... Here we go again

Once again a member of Newton County Commissioner J.C. Henderson’s family has run afoul of the law. This is extremely unfortunate.

Henderson’s son, Quintarious, was arrested last week for aggravated stalking. He is only 17.

It is well documented that Mr. Henderson has had the police come to his own house more than 100 times in the past few years for family arguments.

Most men we know would gladly step out of the limelight — former Speaker of the Georgia House Glenn Richardson is a case in point — and try their best to deal with such serious family/personal issues.

Mr. Henderson seems to be in love with his authority as a county commissioner rather than in love with the county he serves. However, his first duty should be as the leader of his family. People say the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. In some cases they might roll downhill or be carried uphill, but it seems that Quin is an apple resting the shadow of his father’s tree.

We again ask Mr. Henderson to have the courage to step down from his position and spend time ameliorating his family’s issues. Anyone dealing with this much stress at home certainly cannot devote his attentions to the concerns of constituents or the best interests of the county.
