C.R. Bard gives PCA office a full makeover

After: The new office is bright and vibrant, and the PCA Newton staff couldn't be happier - or more grateful. "It looks beautiful," said Director Sheena Berry. "I can't tell you how happy this makes all of us here." She called it a "dream makeover."

Prevent Child Abuse Newton is in the business of helping others, but recently another local company turned the tables on them and provided the non-profit organization with a full office makeover.

According to PCA Newton’s Director Sheena Berry, she first met with representatives from C.R. Bard in November to talk about Child Abuse Prevention Month. The company, she said, wanted to be more involved in the community.

"I was very impressed with that," said Berry. "But I didn’t know they meant it literally," she said with a chuckle.

Bard sent over Russ Riescher, and according to Berry not only was he "really good and very supportive," but also enthusiastic about being involved in Child Abuse Prevention Month this coming April. Because of his support Berry said she’s "real excited about 2010."

A few weeks after that initial conversation Berry contacted Riescher about the possibility of donating a desk to PCA Newton because they needed to increase their staff, and he was quick to invite her to the plant. But what started out as a quest for a desk ended with an entire office full of new furniture for PCA Newton.

But that wasn’t enough for the people at Bard. According to Berry, they suggested a fresh coat of paint to go with the new furniture and when Berry suggested that they would paint the office themselves the folks at Bard were having none of it, and a group from the company came and painted the office for them as well.

"It looks beautiful," said Berry. "I was just so impressed with them. They are really getting involved in the community. I just can’t tell you how happy this makes all of us here. We truly thank all of them for giving us this dream makeover."
