Monday night members of Solid Rock Baptist Church held a fireworks display for 9-year-old Kristin Beaucher. Kristin passed away from complications with a brain tumor early this week. Solid Rock members hoped she could look down on the display.

In July, Kristin and her parents Chris and Heather were visiting relatives in Miami when she told her family that she wanted to plan a fireworks show, said Solid Rock member Kathy Kinard.

A date was set for the show and Kristin was to have pushed the button Monday night to ignite electronically the fireworks. Church members Deborah Hobbs, Tara Pruner and Mandy Krause pushed the buttons for her Monday night.

Around 200 church members, family members and students from Victory Christian Academy and Porterdale Elementary attended the memorial fireworks display.

Kinard said Solid Rock Baptist was accepting donations to offset medical and funeral expenses for the Beaucher family. Checks made payable to Solid Rock Baptist Church with Kristin Beaucher written in the for/memo line can be mailed to 8111 Brown Bridge Road, Covington, Ga. 30014. She said a memorial fund also has been established in Kristin’s name at BB&T.
